Mrs. Esther Bryman had a vision. The result was the creation of a school facility designed for the training of students in the healthcare and business fields.

Bryman College first opened its doors in 1962 as the Los Angeles Colleges of Medical and Dental Assistants. The San Jose campus followed in 1970. The National Education Corporation obtained the schools in 1975 and subsequently changed the name to National Education Center - Bryman Campus. The New Orleans campus was incepted in 1989 as a branch facility of the San Jose school.

Corinthian Schools, Inc. (CSi) acquired the schools in 1995 and changed the name to Bryman College. Corinthian Schools, Inc. is a division of Corinthian Colleges, Inc. (CCi). Corinthian Colleges, Inc. is one of the largest postsecondary school organizations in the United States, operating more than 80 colleges and institutions across the country.

The Hayward campus opened in 2001. The college is housed in a contemporary, state-of-the-art building, which provides a positive learning environment in a setting of clinical laboratories, classrooms, and administrative offices.

Bryman College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).

Massage Therapy

Would you like the skills to relieve patients of pain? The Massage Therapy program provides the basic knowledge, tools, ethics, and behaviors that will enable you to successfully practice as a massage therapist in a variety of healthcare settings. You will gain in-depth educational skills that increase your knowledge and develop specialized techniques of massage.

A balance of academic knowledge, technical expertise, clinical skills and manual dexterity can provide you with a competitive advantage in this ever-changing field. You will acquire a solid base of knowledge through instruction and hands-on training in our well-rounded curriculum.

The Massage Therapist program is taught over a three-quarter period, with each quarter encompassing different courses of study.

The third quarter includes the following three courses: You will have the practical experience to obtain employment as a massage therapist in a number of healthcare settings, including medical and rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, and doctors´ and chiropractors´ offices. Opportunities also exist in health spas, hotels, fitness centers, sports organizations, tourist destinations, and cruise ships. There is the possibility of going into private practice as well.

Employment is expected to steadily grow over the next few years. There will be an increased demand for massage services for management of pain and prevention of physical disabilities from injury or disease.


Medical Administrative Assistant

The Medical Administrative Assistant program provides you with the skills necessary to manage the day-to-day operations of a medical facility. Office management and technical ability are vital parts of the professional office environment.

You will receive training that emphasizes the administrative and business aspects of overseeing a medical or dental office.

Medical Assisting

Have you dreamed of starting a career in the medical field, but weren´t sure where to begin? Consider the role of Medical Assistant, which in recent years has become an integral part of the healthcare arena. Medical Assistants are trained in both administrative and clinical procedures, and are capable of filling a variety of rewarding positions.

Our training program is divided into learning units called modules. You must complete the modules in their entirety, in any sequence, to successfully complete this curriculum.

The learning modules of the Medical Assisting program encompass lecture, theory and laboratory work in the following areas: Upon successful completion of the modules, you are required to participate in a 160-hour externship. This program provides you with the opportunity to interact with patients and apply the principles and practices learned in the classroom.

You will be prepared to maintain the highest quality of patient care; take vital signs, run laboratory and diagnostic tests, all while utilizing your organization, communication and management skills. Gain employment in a hospital, clinic, doctor´s office, nursing home, medical supply business, home healthcare agency, insurance company or pharmaceutical company.


Medical Insurance Billing/Coding

Medical billing and its related occupations are among the fastest growing opportunities in the healthcare industry. Give yourself an advantage as more and more insurance companies, medical offices and clinics look to hire well-schooled and experienced professionals.

You will learn the basic concepts and procedures to perform the tasks involved in health insurance as well as insurance claim forms. You will also gain knowledge of basic coding definitions and how to apply those codes to medical documentation.

The Medical Insurance Billing/Coding program includes: To succeed in this field, you will need to possess a combination of skills. A thorough knowledge of medical terminology, preparing and processing of insurance claims, set up and maintenance of patient records, and proper code selection and application are all essential tools for this profession. Strong computer and keyboarding skills are also vital to the effectiveness of these jobs.

This program offers simulated practice where you manually and electronically prepare insurance claims. You will practice interviewing and documenting skills to obtain the necessary patient information for successfully completing and managing claims.


Surgical Technology

Career opportunities for the surgical technologist are projected to increase as the number of surgical procedures for a growing and aging population escalates. Learn the skills to assist with surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel. Become a valuable member of an operating-room team by performing tasks vital to a successful surgery.

You will be responsible for essential duties before, during and after surgical procedures. Tasks include the preparation of operating room and patients, organization and maintenance of instruments and equipment, cleaning of operating room, and replenishment of supplies.

The Surgical Technology program provides training in the areas of: The program combines classroom instruction with supervised clinical experience. Additional training includes: anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, professional ethics, medical terminology, and CPR certification. Prior to graduation, students will also get experience in an operating room, working under the supervision of a nurse or operating room technician.

There are an abundance of employment opportunities in hospital operating or delivery rooms, clinics, surgical centers, and physician or dentist offices that include outpatient surgery.

Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the national certification exam.
